Google has now decided to take the best from Google Ad Manager, feedback from users and DoubleClick’s publisher technology and combine it into DFP (DoubleClick for Publishers).
DFP comes in 2 versions – the free DFP for Small Business which takes over from Google Ad Manger and the DoubleClick for Publishers Premium Solution, which will not be for free. The DFP Premium Solutions should have some extra advanced features and it takes over when the publishers has more than 90M ad impressions per month.
Google will do the upgrading to DPF over the next weeks and I’m really looking forward to see the new feautures and flow – to be honest I was happy using Ad Manager for free, but the flow was so inferior to for example the Danish Emediate (which comes with a price tag). More to come when “I” have been upgraded..
Yes, the Smashing Punpkins has decided to give away their new songs and they will upload one after one.. Just now there’s 2 to download for free – “A Song For A Son” and “Widow Wake My Mind”.
“A Song For A Son” is really a great song!
Listen to the songs, download and share below or check their site Smashing Pumpkins.
comScore reports that January 2010 was another good month for Microsoft Bing with a small increase their part of the US Search traffic. Bing added another 0,6% and are now at 11,3%, whereas Yahoo! goes down 0,3% to 17,0% – interesting is though that the combination Yahoo!+Bing adds 0,3%. And another interesting thing is Google US Search share going DOWN o,3% to still a massive 65,4% – still very impressive!
Got an email from CoffeeCup Software the other day telling me that buying their sitemap module will help my search rankings… hmm…
Ok, they dont go into details, but a catchy top of the email looking like this:
Dear CoffeeCup, nice Sitemaps or cool styled sitemaps might be a good idea because of several reasons, but I have NOT seen any proffs of a sitemap helping on search rankings.
Haha… check lige denne stilling i Ishøj – en søgemaskineekspert som skal have styr på logiske søgeord og have IT-erfaring indenfor web.. Er det allerede 1. april?
It seems like Microsoft did something better than before when they decided to launch the search engine Bing. All the way since the launch in late May 2009 Bing has seen an increase in their share of the search market and the month of December in US was not different.
comScore reports that Bing in December went up 0,4% to 10,7%, but Google is still the BIG one adding 0,1% which makes Google take a massive 65,7% of the US search market. In the same period Yahoo went down 0,2% to 17,3%, but the really interesting part about it is that Yahoo+Bing is at more than 25% procent (28%), so for a US PPC campaign you really have a big chunk of extra traffic to gain from also using them… not really the same in Denmark where Yahoo+Bing might add 3% on a very good day… 😉
Personally I really like that Bing is growing, not because its Microsoft or.. but simply because I hope at some point that we’ll see Google massive position as the clear number 1 in search shaken just a bit – some competition would be really good!
Now I think it’s time to go for an Android powered phone and the Google Nexus One looks pretty good.
I must admit I really like my iPhone – using it so much and we’re taking about the iPhone 1. generation… but now it must be time to switch to something faster (and I did consider the iPhone 3Gs – looked great!) and it’s not gonna be an iPhone because I do HATE that teh Apple iPhone OS is a closed system and that it’s not born with “a drag and drop your files and music interface” – iTunes sucks, especially for phones not bought by the official channels.. and upgrading isnt too difficult, but it does take quite some time.. would love to get rid of iTunes!
So now I’m looking at this new and FAST Android phone Google Nexus One – I might get one pretty soon..
First stop on our honeymoon in October/November was planned to be Siam Reap in Cambodia to see the marvellous Angkor Wat temple area and by a bit of Internet surfing we were already prepared for the trip and warned about the different scams that you could encounter. Luckily we read and printed the informative warnings from Tales of Asia and how he describes that “ALL PRIVATE BUS SERVICES TO CAMBODIA SOLD BY TRAVEL AGENTS IN BANGKOK ARE RIP-OFFS AND RIFE WITH SCAMS. ALL OF THEM. NO, NOT SOME OF THEM. ALL OF THEM†(taken directly from his site) – he was SO right! In fact by having read all the advices we were in a position to laugh quite a bit when some people tried to scam us, because we already knew beforehand what would happen – I can only recommend being a bit prepared and the trip will be full of fun… 😉
In the next couple of lines I will give our experiences.
We stayed at the really nice hotel New Siam River Side – probably the best hotel in the close to Khao San Road area, so of course we decided to ask the travel agent at the hotel for advice and maybe buying the trip to Siam Reap there. She was full of crap… Because of a lot of scams, she said, she could offer us a 10 persons minibus to the border + a Toyota Camry for 4 persons in Cambodia at a price of 1.000 bath. Directly to a guesthouse they know, but we don’t have to stay there… and she promised us only 1 stop on the way + the Border crossing… Going alone would be very difficult and to the border will be 400 bath per person. She also proposed to help with Visa to Cambodia. She could prepare it now for 1.500 bath, because its 1.300 bath at the border and very slow.
Facts: - Official bus to the Cambodian Border 250 bath. - the sign at the Cambodian Border said USD 20 for the Visa, but the nice officials at the border tried to earn a little extra by charging 1.000 bath for the Visa. And the procedure was fast! - It was so easy to get a shared taxi just after the Border crossing – we paid 35 USD for 3 persons and the trip took around 2 hours… not bad
We did try to get another offer at a hotel in Bangkok and the offer was close to the same – 900 for the trip to some guesthouse in Siam Reap and she strongly recommended us to get the Visa now for only 1.300 bath… but she could discount to 2.250 bath per person. And NO the USD 20 is not possible anymore – now it’s 1.300 – A direct lie! So funny looking back at.. especially because we were warned…
We did of course not try the package tours, so we can’t for sure tell if the trips are as slow as described in “Tales of Asiaâ€, but on other trips we saw it. And we can only recommend planning trips by yourselves, not to save money, but to save time and irritations.. the package tours are damn slow and stop too many times, so you have the possibility to buy food ect. where the bus company get a commission… and you end up in guesthouses or hotels where the bus company gets a commission again… it’s all about getting a lot of extra commissions and not about getting the tourists from A-B and charge a fair price for it..
And at the Cambodian Border the Frenchman gave 1.000 bath for the Visa – my wife and I paid the USD 20 per person + a tip of 100 bath. The Border crossing was in general very fast and easy.. nothing to worry about…
At the Cambodian side we pushed away some people who wanted to do money exchange (also a scam)… and took the free bus to the bus terminal.. went outside the bus terminal and negotiated a private taxi to Siam Reap – piece of cake and from what I hear so much faster than going on the Khao San Road scam bus packages.
Irina and the Frenchman outside our “Taxi” – we needed a 2 mins break..
Btw the road from the Border to Siam Reap is great – not bad as it used to be.
It’s no news that Google and other Search Engines has a hard time (read: don’t do it very good) making sense of images and with Google’s change in the way they show images in their Universal Search ( Universal Search blends listings from Google news, video and image ect among the listings they get from crawling websites ) there’s even more reason in helping Google understanding the images on your website.
Google decribes their change like: “When we’re confident that we have great image results to deliver, we’ll now show you a larger image and additional smaller images alongside. This new layout helps us to display more pictures than before, so you have more options to quickly choose from. As always, click on an image to see it full size on the original webpage.”
And looks like this
So remember to describe your images – not overdo – and you get a chance of “stealing” even more Google SERPS screen real estate…
